About Tacoma Boxes

Tacoma Boxes was founded in 2008 by Robert Callahan, a packaging industry veteran who saw an opportunity to help businesses save money while reducing environmental waste. Starting with just 500 boxes in a small warehouse and a single delivery truck, Robert built the company on a simple principle: provide quality products at fair prices with exceptional service.

In the early days, Robert would personally inspect every box, make deliveries, and handle customer calls. He noticed that many businesses were throwing away perfectly good gaylord boxes after just one or two uses—boxes that could easily be reused, repaired, or at minimum recycled. This waste bothered him, and he made it his mission to give these boxes a second life.

Word spread quickly among Tacoma's manufacturing community. Business owners appreciated the cost savings of buying quality used boxes, and they trusted Robert's honest assessment of each box's condition. Within three years, Tacoma Boxes had outgrown its original warehouse and needed to expand.

Today, Tacoma Boxes operates from a 25,000 square foot facility on Lincoln Avenue, employs a team of 25+ dedicated professionals, and serves over 500 businesses across Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. We've grown from that original inventory of 500 boxes to maintaining over 5,000 boxes in stock at any given time.

Despite our growth, we have never lost sight of Robert's original vision. Every box is still inspected before sale. We still prioritize reuse over recycling, and recycling over landfill. And we still believe that the best way to grow is by being the kind of company our customers can trust and rely on.
